$1.00 a minute. That is the price list.
No packages, no tiers, no membership, no app to download. The pressure wand, the vacuum and the air all run on the same clock at the same rate.
How paying works
Tap, chip, phone wallet or coins. Time appears on the display the moment the payment approves and starts counting down.
You can add more at any point without losing what is left — topping up extends the same session rather than starting a new one. And the pause button stops the clock for 30 seconds, up to three times a wash, so the time you spend walking round the car is not billed.
What a wash actually costs
Worked examples, at a dollar a minute:
Quick rinse-off — two or three minutes, so $2–3. Enough to get winter brine or a layer of dust off.
Thorough outside wash — pre-soak 2, soap 3, rinse 2, spot-free 1. Eight minutes, $8.00.
Outside plus interior — the same eight, plus five or so on vacuum and air. Around $13.00.
These are examples rather than averages; the point of per-minute pricing is that you decide. A careful wash costs more than a quick one, and neither requires you to buy a package sized for somebody else.
Why there is no membership
Monthly passes make sense for an automatic tunnel, where the business wants you through quickly and often. A self-serve bay is the opposite: you are buying time and control.
A flat per-minute rate means nobody is paying for a tier they do not use, and nobody is being upsold at the payment terminal. It also means the price list fits in one sentence, which is worth something on its own.
What you get for it
Eight settings on the dial — pre-soak, wash soap, rinse, wax, foam brush, triple foam conditioner, vacuum and air — in a heated bay with an automatic door, running softened and heated water with heated chemicals, finishing on a reverse-osmosis spot-free rinse.
Open 24 hours, every day, at 108 Mayor Magrath Drive North.
Questions people ask
How much does a car wash cost at AK Auto Spa?
$1.00 per minute for everything — pressure wand, vacuum and air alike. A thorough outside wash takes about eight minutes, so around $8.00; a quick rinse-off is $2–3. There are no packages, no membership and no app, and you can add time at any point without losing the minutes you already have.
Is a self-serve car wash cheaper than an automatic one?
Usually yes, and at AK Auto Spa a thorough wash runs about $8.00 at $1.00 a minute. You also get at the wheel arches, sills and door shuts that an automatic tunnel misses, and nothing mechanical touches your paint unless you choose the foam brush. The trade is that it takes about ten minutes of your own time.
Can you pay by card at AK Auto Spa?
Yes. All three bays at AK Auto Spa take tap, chip and phone wallets as well as coins. The time is added as soon as the payment approves, and you can top up mid-wash without losing the minutes already on the clock.
